Carolyn McDade - an Evolutionary Leader.
6:30 pm Light Supper/Snacks available For women and men Tickets $20 It's Carolyn's love of language and sound and her committment to the power of the human voice, singing and speaking truth to move society to just and liberating transformation, that makes her an Evolutionary Leader. Through song and singing she helps us understand ourselves as part of a living planet thereby deepening human consciousness. A social activist, Carolyn weaves together the spiritual and the political - integrating the personal, social, planetary, and cosmic. She describes herself simply as a woman of faith seeking with others to touch what matters. For over three decades she has brought circles of women together to sing songs rooted in their experiences. Her recorded music dates back to the early 1970's. Her latest cd is based on the words of the Earth Charter. Tonight, she welcomes men to join their voices in an evening titled after one of her most recent pieces, Were I To Say How Much I Love The Earth.. "What I know now" writes Carolyn who's latest music calls us into Earth Community, "it is still an act of courage to sing - to really sing, in the way that disrobes the heart and lays its curve into the world, that leaves the soul whole and the body shining. Such singing ... leads us into confrontation with entrenched and unjust power. " Whether you sing naked in the shower or surrounded in a mass choir, Carolyn reminds us not only of the power of song to tell, to change, and to shape our common story. But that a voice is a unique and powerful gift. She writes: "To be true to its timbre, the human voice requires authenticity of body, language, community. In this society, when we shape our body/sexual energy with integrity, tell what we know with candor, and create communities committed to the wellbeing of the whole, we invariably shake the status quo."
